Tech Around Appliance repairs household and commercial appliances in Virginia Beach and the wider Hampton Roads area. This page explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how you stop hearing from us.

The short version

We collect what we need to fix your appliance and get paid for it. We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your mobile information with third parties for their own promotional or marketing purposes. You can stop our texts by replying STOP, and our marketing emails by clicking unsubscribe, at any time, and it changes nothing about the service you get from us.

What we collect

When you book a repair, call us, or we do work for you:

  • your name, service address, phone number and email address;

  • what appliance it is, what make and model, and what is wrong with it;

  • notes our technician writes about the visit, the parts used and the work done;

  • photographs of the appliance and of the work itself;

  • what you were quoted, what you were invoiced, and what you paid;

  • when we contacted you and what about.

When you use our website: the pages you visit and basic technical information your browser sends, through Google's analytics tags and our website host, Wix.

We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, your date of birth, or banking details. Card payments are handled by Stripe and we never see or store your full card number.

Why we collect it

To book and carry out repairs, order parts, quote and invoice, honour warranties, answer questions about work we have done, and — only if you have asked for them — send you maintenance reminders and offers.

Photographs of the work

Our technicians photograph the appliance and the work, because a repair record without pictures is worth much less when a fault comes back under warranty.

If you have given us permission, we may also use those photographs on our website, on our social media pages and in our advertising. When we do:

  • we do not use photographs showing you, other people, pets or children;

  • we do not use photographs showing your house number, your address, your mail, or anything else that could identify you or where you live;

  • a person here looks at every photograph at full size before it is used, and we remove the location and camera details stored inside the photo file;

  • we never put your name with a photograph.

You can change your mind at any time. Reply to any email from us or call the office and we will stop using them and take them down from our website and our social media. Printed material already in circulation cannot be recalled.

Text messages

We only text you about your own job — confirming an appointment, telling you a technician is on the way — unless you have separately agreed to marketing texts.

If you agree to marketing texts:

  • message frequency varies;

  • message and data rates may apply;

  • reply STOP to any message to stop them, and HELP for help, or call the office;

  • agreeing is never a condition of any purchase or service, and saying no changes nothing about the work we do for you or what it costs.

Your mobile information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. We do not sell or share mobile numbers or text sign-up information with anyone for their own marketing, and no third party sends marketing texts on our behalf using your number.

Marketing emails

Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link, and using it stops them for good. You can also reply to any of them, or call the office, and ask us to stop. Emails about your own appointments, quotes and invoices are separate, and we send those either way.

Who else sees your information

We use a small number of companies to run the business. They may only handle your information to do that job for us, never for their own marketing:

  • Workiz — our booking and job management system;

  • Telnyx — our phone and text provider;

  • Amazon Web Services (SES) — sends our email;

  • Stripe — processes card payments;

  • Wix and Google — host our website and its analytics;

  • our parts suppliers, when a part has to be ordered for your job.

We may also share information when the law requires it, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not give it to anyone for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

We keep job records, invoices and photographs for as long as we may need them for warranty, tax and legal reasons. If you ask us to stop contacting you, we keep a record of that request itself, permanently — that is the only way to make sure we do not contact you again by mistake.

Your choices

  • Stop marketing texts: reply STOP to any message.

  • Stop marketing emails: click unsubscribe in any of them, or ask us.

  • Ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it: contact us below. We will do what we can, keeping only what we must for warranty, tax or legal reasons.

  • Photographs: ask us to stop using them at any time.

Children

  • Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect information about children.

Changes to this page

If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
